Sifting Through the Clutter
I like to think of myself as a maximalist; I am drawn to the stories told by objects and clutter arranged in a space and the complications that arise by bodies and sound inhabiting that same space. I delight in the thought that each object, be it a bedsheet, a timer, a packet of yeast, has a history and context that acts as an entry point into something cohesive. Individual movements are not what interest me, but embracing the arbitrary nature of these elements and making sense of them. At the same time, I leave space for the outside observer to make their own connections, and create their own interpretations of my work. I value the varied conclusions that can come from one moment or image. Within the clutter, I play with themes of femininity and domesticity in the unending task of exploring my own identity and experience of the world as a queer person.
